Tämä Wallpress-saitti on ollut tässä yhdenlainen laboratorio WordPressin ja muiden teknisten asioiden testaukseen sekä samalla myös kasaelma kaikenlaisesta paljosta menneestä ja nykyisestä tekemisestäni. Aika rankka ja raskas yhdistelmä ainakin sivulatautumisaikojen osalta. Tätä sisältöä tässä nyt pitäisi ehtiä tarkasteleen uudestaan ja uudella tavalla.

Aika hyvät lukemat PageSpeedissä tässä yömyöhäsellä. Testailin näitä AMP-, ShortPixel CDN ja WebP-juttuja tuohon [edelliseen] Mag.koo1.fi :een. (Katso postauksen pohjalta pieni päivitys asiassa.***) Ao. sivustolla käytössä myös muut optimointini ja cachet erilaisilla plugien ilmaisversioilla. Aika hyvin siihenkin nähden.
Tässä lievää tekniikkaharjoittelua. Käytössä Androidin WP-appi, jonka kautta postin lähetys aika lailla zuitsait zukkelaan. Kuva tulee defaulttina täyskoossa. Voishan tää näinkin, että mobiililähetyksellä vain drafti ja kuvakoon fiksaa sit myöhemmin tietsikalla.
Tosin parempi kyl olis, että koko kuvajutun sais ihan valmiiks mobiililla. Pakkohan se on jollain pelillä onnistua. Pitäis taas katsastaa, että mikä on nykytilanne noiden kuva-appien kans.
Kuvassa muuten Vasaramäenpuiston nykyvaiheita. Puistoremppa käynnissä, tuossa nykyisellään levennetty sorapolkua, en tiä mitä meinaavat sen kans tehä. Meinaaks ne tosiaan päällystettä laittaa? Hiljattain tuli uudet hienot puistovalot, tosin pääasiassa vain puiston sivulle – mitäs se sitten meinaa. Kuvan valkoinen pakettiauto on Flöriltä. Jotain ne tohon suunnittelee, vaan enpä tiä mitä. Niin ja taustalla Hippoksentien uuden rakennustyömaan nosturi on juuri samana päivänä saatu pystyyn. Nykysuunnitelmilla meinaan hakea tohon uuteen Hipposrakennukseen asumaan, jahka valmistuupi ensi vuonna.
I recently installed this Yoast SEO plugin on my koo1.fi site. This post is not about the usability, but about a detail.
Now, as I am concerned with these cookie issues, I noticed, that this Yoast SEO places a DoubleClick cookie.
And I can see that, because I emptied all my Opera browser cookies & stuff, and only visited my own koo1.fi afterwards. (See screen capture at the end.)
And I noticed as I googled, that there’s a talk about this in WordPress.org Yoast plugin page, where the support first plays ignorant and then calls this just a bug – and then terminates the open discussion. (Or actually the support furthers the talk from WordPress.org to GitHub, which requires signing up and further research, which, all in all, is effectively a talk termination.)

Well, well, well. That talk took place over 6 months ago, and the DoubleClick cookie setting is still quite evident, so I guess, that’s not a bug, but quite deliberate action.
One thing for sure, is that this leaves one skeptical and doubtful.
Right now I’m not going to dive any deeper into this matter, although there might be interesting talks and views elsewhere. Instead right now, as I’ve decided to keep the koo1.fi as cookie-free as possible, I’ll remove this Yoast right away.
And generally, I think, I’ll search for an alternative to Yoast SEO. (Although it boasts with over 5M downloads.)
EDIT a little bit later: I deleted Yoast SEO, and like I expected, also the DC cookie was gone.
Then, as a scientific person as I am (!),I re-installed Yoast, ran the Wizard and some basic stuff, and to my surprise, the DC cookie did not show up. What? When and how does it come from? Or am I totally mistaken in the first place?
I’ll have to investigate this some more, I think, and come back later on this subject.

This nice free widget comes from Premium Add-ons for Elementor. The scroll effect is triggered by hover or mouse scroll. I think mouse scroll is better and more useful here. Works both vertically and horizontally.
This plugin, based on first impressions, is very very interesting… I have high hopes…let’s see…
EDIT March 2019: I just couldn’t get this plugin to work like I would’ve wanted to, and I was left with a disappointment.
Yes, I only had a free version to try, and I only spend a few hours (!) with this one, but still I tried this on a couple of sites.
Maybe I had wrong hopes, but anyhow, I couldn’t get permissions to work on a multi-level.
For example giving reading rights of a page to a person or a group didn’t function at all.
I ended up all the time in a situation, where no matter what your role was, you weren’t allowed to read a page assigned to you, unless you signed-in as an Administrator.
I don’t know, if some other plugins interfered with this, most notably WordFence, although if I think I tried even with most of other plugins deactivated. And I don’t know what role web browsers have in this.
But all in all this effort was totally frustrating and futile. There must be a better way than this.
Go ahead, you try – and tell me I was wrong. I’d be happy to hear.
There are some features that other site speed tools don’t have. At least for free.

I use this Privacy Badger – among other things – in my Opera and I’m quite happy with it. Although, I must say, I haven’t paid enormous attention to it, at least not before this. So I very much recommend it, and at least, check it out. www.eff.org/privacybadger

Slack minulle uusi tuttavuus, vaikka toki vastaavia tullut vastaan. Mutta nyt Slack kyllä heti viehätti notkeudellaan, intuitiivisuudellaan ja toiminnoillaan. Elementor-Slack-integraatiokin oli niin helppoa kuin moinen vain voi olla.

Rethinking this whole image thing
Mulla oli tämä Smush (aiempi postaus) käytössä kaikissa saiteissani ja ihan ok tämä ilmaisversiona pelannut, tehden tuota noin -10% puristusta minun jo aika hyvin kutistetuille kuvilleni.
Mutta edelleen on ongelmana ollut, koskien lukuisia saittejani ja isoja määriä kuvia, että nuo kuvahakemistot vain paisuvat paisumistaan. Tähänhän ei näiden kuvapakkausohjelmien käyttö auta, vaan päinvastoin: ne käytännössä lisäävät kuvien määrää ja siten myös hakemistojen kokoa. Niiden hyöty onkin toisaalla, ladattavien kuvien optimoinnissa.
Mutta tässä on työkalu, jolla rajoittaa sitä, miten (tolkuttoman) paljon kuvia itse WordPress Media-hakemiston käytön ja template-määritysten kautta tuottaa: Stop Generating Image Sizes -palikka.

WP Media Uploader
When you upload an image using Media Uploader, WordPress generates multiple copies of that image. By default, WordPress generates 4 sizes:
Thumbnail, Medium, Medium-large and Large
But along with this, theme and plugin developers can register their own sizes. Although they may be on purpose, but sometimes they remain unused.
Tämä plugi on minulla ollut vasta ihan lyhyen aikaa käytössä, mutta kokemukset ihan mukavia.
Tarkkana tämän Image Sizes -palikan kanssa saa olla – on järkevää etukäteen tsekata selaimella ihan kultakin sivulta niin tietsikassa kuin mobiilissakin mitkä kuvat oikeasti ovat käytössä. Ja varmuudet tietty ennen muutoksia.
Muutenkin tässä on täsmentynyt omakin näkemykseni, että ison kuvamäärän saittien kanssa tarvitsee WP:n kuvahallinta kyllä erityisesti suunnitella. Tuollaisten ns. normipikkuyrityssaittien kanssa ei niin nokon nuukaa, kunhan kuvia ja latautumisia jotenkin edes vähän optimoi, niin ok, levytilaa kun nykyään webhotelleissa kosolti piisaa.
Tästä kehkeytyykin sitten useampia ajatuksia sivustosuunnittelun osalta, mutta niistä sitten toiste ja toisaalla.

Mua on aina viehättänyt tämä tämmöinen Newspaper-layoutti ja monen monituista näitä olen myös tehnyt/muokannut/käyttänytkin.
Tämä tässä on saittini mag.koo1.fi , jossa käytetty ThemeGrillin siistiä pohjaa, ja jonka väsätäkoostin jo alkusyksystä. Tästä saitista voisin sanoa melkeinpä erikoisuutena sen, että NYT EI ole käytetty mitään erityistekniikoita (Elementoria, SiteOriginia tai vastaavaa), vaan ihan ollaan perusperus WP-systeemissä.

Fontti on käytössä Nokia 7 Plussan sivustossa, jota mallailen eletra.koo1.fi:ssäni . Nostettu tässä esiin nyt tämä fontti erinäisissä testitarkoituksissa.
Kappas! Tuota RSFirewallia paljon olen käyttänyt Joomla-puolella ja kovin paljon tykännytkin ja luottanutkin, ollut laajennuksinani ihan ykkösiä. Nyt (viimein) samainen siis myös WP:lle. Tätähän mun on ihan pakko testata.

I had been planning to re-name my ocean.koo1web.com site to something else, but I hadn’t idea what the other name would be. Maybe ‘Shop’, or ‘Store’..maybe…but I guess maybe not for this site…And then I got it: Assets.koo1web.com . That would be most descriptive of the content, and most justified as a name.
Well…I guess, then I was just a little too arrogant…

And talking about speed – they even have their Turbo option, claiming to be even 20x faster…
Well for me, I don’t know about it yet, but sure I’m interested.That much happy client I am, that I’ve decided to join their Affiliate program.
